Pistachio Slivers (Economy) are known as the economical and industrial grade of pistachio slivers, where the main focus is on reducing cost and preserving the pistachio flavor rather than maintaining visual uniformity. This grade is usually produced from pistachio kernels that, during the cutting process, are turned into shorter, more irregular slivers or a mixture of slivers and crushed pieces.
In terms of appearance, Economy pistachio slivers show greater variation in length, thickness, and color. In this grade, short slivers, broken pieces, or small fragments may be present. For this reason, they are not suitable for luxury decorative uses, but they are still considered valuable in terms of taste and nutritional properties. This characteristic makes the product more affordable compared to grades A and A+.
Economy pistachio slivers are mostly used in industrial applications and mass production. Ice cream factories, mixed confectionery products, pistachio paste, pistachio cream, halva, industrial cakes, and semi‑prepared products use this grade because, in such applications, the appearance of the slivers is less important and the pistachio flavor and percentage are more significant.
In terms of taste, Economy pistachio slivers still preserve the real pistachio flavor, provided that they are sourced from a reliable supplier. Although the aroma intensity may be slightly lower than higher grades due to the presence of smaller pieces, they still perform very well when combined with other food ingredients.
From an economic perspective, this grade is the best choice for high and continuous consumption. Producers who aim to control the final production cost usually choose Economy pistachio slivers. This product makes it possible to use real pistachios in large quantities at a reasonable price.
